Who We Are

If you're passionate about biomedical device design and seeking hands-on experience, join UMass MedTech at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst! As a completely student-led initiative, we provide a platform for you to put your classroom skills into real-world applications, collaborate with like-minded peers, and work on designing and prototyping innovative devices. Together, we can shape the future of biomedical technology. Join us on this exciting journey!

Our Projects

Every year, we work on a new medical device. We currently have three new projects running: AutoVein, GaitGuide, and CallaCare. We are also continuing work on our legacy project, KneeVive; we began working on KneeVive in 2023, showcased it at SB3C in Spring 2024, and won 2nd place in the UMass Tech Challenge in Fall 2024. This year, we are taking all four of our active projects to the Northeast Bioengineering Conference (NEBEC)!

Prior to this, we redesigned a pulse oximeter (PulsePal) which won funding from the UMass Tech Challenge, and competed in the DEBUT challenge the year before using a portable oxygen concentrator (OxyCon).
